1. Kannur

Kannur is a beautiful district in Malabar. This place was formerly known as Cannanore. It is an enchanting city in the northern side of Kerala. Kannur was an important port of the Arabian Sea. This is called as the land of looms and lores.

The Payyambalam beach is located 2 km from Kannur town. Parassini Madappura Sree Muthappan Temple and Peralassery Sree Subrahmanya temple, Kottiyoor Temple are situated near Kannur. Muzhapilangad beach, Ezhimala beach, Dharmadam Island, Moppila Bay, Azhikkal Ferry and St Angelo’s Fort are the main tourist place in Kannur. 2. Kozhikode

Kozhikode is also known as Calicut. It is considered as the largest urban area in the Kerala state. This city is ranked as the 195th largest urban area in the world. On 7 June 2012, this city is declared as “City of Sculptures”. Wildlife sanctuaries, serene beaches, historic sites, rivers, hills etc are the main attractions of Kozhikode. It is known as a historical city, because the Portuguese Navigator Vasco Da Gamain, who discovered the Sea Route to India in 1498. Besides, he landed at the Kappad sea shore.

Thusharagiri Waterfalls is located in this city. It is a snowy spray waterfall. If you visit here, you can see Crocodile breeding farm. This is a perfect place for bird watchers. Beypore beach, Kappad beach are the beaches in Kozhikode.


3. Wayanad

Wayanad is a Smallest district in State by population. The name Wayanad gets from the word Vayal Nadu, which refers to the land of paddy fields. Its almost 885.92.sq.km of area is under forest. The people in that area are considered as backward.
