BHIM App- Step by Step Procedure and Guidelines for Installation and Use

Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a mobile app for the Unified Payment Interface (UPI). This is called BHIM (Bharat Interface for Mobile) and this application is common across all banks and financial institution. This is launched as a part of making digital payments a “habit” to make the country a cashless economy. BHIM is made in India and this is dedicated to the service of the nation.

You need to have devices with Android 4.1 and up to install and use this app. BHIM App is Offered By National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) is made to ensure fast, secure, reliable cashless payments through your mobile phone. This app is very useful and can interoperable with other Unified Payment Interface (UPI) applications, and bank accounts. List of BHIM Supported Banks given below.

BHIM App Services

First you have to Register your bank account with BHIM app. set a UPI PIN for the bank account. Keep in mind that Your mobile number is your payment address (PA) for transacting. You can Send / Receive Money from friends, family and other with this mobile number or payment address. There is also option to sent money to non UPI supported banks using IFSC and MMID.

To collect money send a request and reverse payments also available if required. You can Check Balance and transactions details on the go. There is a Custom Payment Address which is used in addition to your phone number. The QR Code scan available for faster entry of payment addresses. This is best for Merchants.

Transaction Limits of the app includes Maximum of Rs. 10,000 per transaction and Rs. 20,000 within 24 hours. The app supports Languages like Hindi and English. More languages coming soon. You can visit https://upi.npci.org.in/static/faq/en_US/ for more information. 

Step by Step Procedure and Guidelines for Installation and Use

  • Download the BHIM app from Google play store and install this as any other app in your smartphone. Now you have to activate the app for using this.

  • Just open this and chose your language – Hindi/English and click next. Now you have to allow permissions for accessing phone’s SMS and phone’s state to verify it with UPI.
  • Next give permission to allow the app to make and manage phone calls and finally allow the app to send and view SMS messages.
  • Once you give these permissions, you can select your SIM card. It is better to choose the SIM/Mobile number registered/linked with Bank accounts. 
  • Now the BHIM app will send an SMS to verify the app (keep in mind that Re 1 will be charged for this). Once your number is verified, chose your 4-digit UPI pin code/pass code.

  • Then you can choose your bank from 31 listed banks. The list is given above. Now add your account number (If it is in your SMS box, the app can automatically detect it. Then you are redirected to a new screen with options.

  • Options includes Send, Request and Scan and Pay. You can use each one as per directions. Now the app is successfully activated and it is ready to use.

    How can generate mpin with maestro card, which is dont have card expiry date. Plz suggest me.
