From this 2015 May 1 onwards, subscribers of Bharath Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) landline telephones can enjoy unlimited free night calls between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.
The State-owned telecom operators offers this new scheme with an aim to attract subscribers for its idling landline phone lines. The main reason for introducing such an offer is the BSNL loosing of significant size of ilandline subscriber base to the mobile phone technology offered by BSNL and other network providers.
For all BSNL landline subscribers, with out-going call making facility, can enjoy this benefit from the scheme. You can make a call free to any landline or mobile number (immaterial of the operator) across the nation. Time allotted for this free calls is between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. BSNL holds over 1.66 crore landline connections at the end of February.
Company lost 162,556 landline customers in February. Still BSNL is dominating the market with 62.26 per cent share. This special plan of free calls covers all major landline general plans of rural and urban areas, landline special plans and all major combo (landline and broadband) plans. Unlimited Free Night Calling Facility is available to all Landline & Combo Broadband Plan Customers across India.
This is the official conformation from Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai), BSNL. Recently Airtel emerged as top gainer and with this impact BSNL was the biggest loser of fixed-line customers in February. There is no end date fixed for this scheme. BSNL will review it after six months.
