Hawa Mahal is a famous ancient monuments of Rajathan. This is believed to be built in 1799 A.D by the well known Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. The words “Hawa Mahal” mean “Wind Palace.” The name is really meaning full because there are 953 windows so that breeze flows and keeps the palace cool. The Jaipur royals used the palace for their summer retreat. 

Hawa Mahal designed by Lal Chand Usta specially for the royal ladies of Jaipur so they can watch all the activities of the local marketplace. This is said to be a unique combination of Mughal and Rajput architectural styles.Hawa Mahal is made from red and pink sandstone. This is one of the tallest building in the world without a foundation.

There are total 5 storeys and the palace is leaning at an angle of 87 degrees. It is said to be built in the shape of Lord Krishna’s crown. The lattice-work or the jaali work in the windows of Hawa Mahal is same as the honeycomb. There is no front entrance to the Hawa Mahal and the entry is through the rear. There is only ramps, instead of regular stairs. This is located in Jaipur city.India. Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan and this is the second largest tourist spot in India.

The city is well connected via different modes of transport. The nearby airport is the Indira Gandhi international Airport. The nearby railway station is the Jaipur station. There is also various Rajasthan state government bus.The palace was painted with ochre-pink. Now this is a famous tourist spot in Jaipur. One can visit the entire Jaipur city from here. This is a great spot for the shooting of several Indian and international films.This pyramid shaped palace is packed with  carved sandstone grills, over 900 niches with semi-octagonal windows,finials and domes.
