Huawei Kirin 950 Octa-Core 16nm SoC and Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 14nm SoC Launched

Chipsets are the heart of every smartphone either android or windows. It is important to know the chipset the smartphone houses, because with this information a lot can be understood about a phone’s performance. Two new high performance assured chipset launched in Market. These are the Huawei Kirin 950 Octa-Core 16nm SoC and Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 14nm SoC.

Huawei Kirin 950 Octa-Core SoC equipped with Up to 2.3 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex 72 + up to 1.8 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex A53 combination. There is a Mali T880 GPU for graphics and games. It uses IntelliSense i5 for low-power operation when gathering data from accelerometer, gyroscope, compass etc.

Other features are LPDDR4 RAM, Integrated Multi-mode 4G LTE Modem – Category 6 FDD / TDD, TD-LTE/LTE FDD / TD-SCDMA / WCDMA / GSM, SGLTE/CSFB/VoLTE etc. The chipset expected to be used in Huawei’s upcoming flagship smartphone Ascend Mate 8.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (MSM8996) chipset offers Up to 2.2 GHz quad-core custom 64-bit Qualcomm Kryo CPUs. This is powered by Integrated X12 LTE and comes with Global Mode, 3x faster peak upload speeds and 33% faster peak download speeds compared to X10 LTE.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 14nm SoC assures Cat 12/13 speeds of up to 600 Mbps down/150 Mbps up via 3x20MHz downlink, 2X20MHz uplink. There are LTE/Wi-FI link aggregation, LTE-U, LTE Broadcast, LTE Dual SIM, Dual Active (DSDA), HD Voice over 3G and VoLTE,Wi-Fi calling with LTE call continuity etc. 

Ther have used Qualcomm Adreno 530 GPU, Up to OpenGL ES 3.1+. This chipset capable of Supporting up to 4K Ultra HD on-device, 4K Ultra HD output, 1080p and 4K external display, 4K HEVC video at 60FPS with 10-bit color, WCD9335 audio codec, Hi-Fi 24bit/192kHz FLAC playback etc.
