PNG format or Portable Network Graphics is a compression file format commonly used on the Web. This is one of the most widely used lossless image compression format on the Internet. This is made as an improved, non-patented replacement for Graphics Interchange Format (GIF). PNGs are best for storing line art, text-heavy images, and images with few colors. PNG is not for professional-quality print graphics. 

JPG format is also a compressed file format which is useful for storing photographs at a smaller size than a BMP. This is most common choice for use on the Web than PNG. JPEG is best for storing of digital images, like those produced by digital photography. JPEG typically achieves 10:1 compression, this little perceptible loss in image quality.

  1. jpg is better than the png image. Png image may be transparent or not, that we can decide. But jpg will not be a transparent image, jpg have less weight also.
