Intel Joule chip module Announced for Internet of Things (IoT)

The well known Intel Joule chip module for Internet of Things (IoT) is here with appealing specifications and options. This has just announced Along with the Project Alloy VR headset. Intel unveiled a new chip module called as Joule which features Real Sense depth-sensing camera targeted at Internet of Things (IoT). 

According to Intel, this is a high performance system-on-module (SOM) in a tiny, low-power package. This is an ideal equipment for computer vision, robotics, drones, industrial IoT, VR, AR, micro-servers and other applications which needs high-end edge computing. The Intel Joule module comes in two models – 570x and 550x and supports 4K video and WiFi.

Intel Joule chip module 570x powered by 64-bit, 1.7 GHz quad-core Intel AtomTM T5700 processor with burst up to 2.4 GHz. This supports 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 16GB eMMC memory. There is Intel HD Graphics with 4K video capture and display. You have 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MIMO and Bluetooth 4.1, USB 3.0, MPI CSI and DSI interfaces, and multiple GPIO, I2C, UART interfaces etc.

There is also Linux-based OS tailored for IoT and smart devices. Intel Joule chip module assures Enhanced support for the Intel RealSense cameras and libraries. Intel Joule chip module 550x packed with 64-bit, 1.5 GHz quad-core Intel AtomTM T5500 processor. This supports 3GB LPDDR4 RAM and 8GB eMMC memory.

There is Intel HD Graphics with 4K video capture and display. Other options and facilities includes 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MIMO and Bluetooth 4.1, USB 3.0, MPI CSI and DSI interfaces, and multiple GPIO, I2C, UART interfaces etc. There is Linux-based OS tailored for IoT and smart devices.You have Support for the Intel RealSense cameras and libraries. The Intel Joule 570x developer kit is available for sale at the 2016 Intel Developer Conference in San Francisco.
