Fast foods  contain more calorie from sugar and fat with less amount of Nutrition. There is poor quality and quantity of fiber, protein, vitamins or minerals. In modern days most of the teenagers are addicted to junk food. This is the main reason for many health disorders that is seen in many people using junk food in their daily routine. Side effects and problems caused by junk foods are given here in detail. 

1. Type 2 Diabetes

Diabetes is a disease caused by the high blood glucose level. overweight is also a main reason for diabetes.Junk food  contain excess fat and sugar that will cause overweight. Increased amount of fat and sugar will destroy the body’s metabolism affects.

Increased level of fat tissues can make blood cell’s to become resistant to the insulin. Insulin is a hormone  that is produced by pancreas, used to separate sugar from blood and cells. When your cells are unable to use insulin, then pancreas will mistake that it needs more insulin and produce insulin until this gland wear out. so, the blood pressure level will increase.

Prevention and treatment of Type 2 Diabetes  are maintaining a healthy diet, regular physical exercise and a normal body weight. Also it can be treated with proper medication with or without the use of insulin. Symptoms are  increased thirst, frequent urination, hunger, fatigue and blurred vision.

2. Heart Disease

Junk food containing saturated fat and trans fat are the main reason for heart diseases. People who eat fast-food four or more times a week, up their risk of dying from heart disease by 80 percent.

Saturated fat will narrow the artery walls by 24 percent and it will leads to the high blood pressure and other heart problems. Increasing weight and waist circumference is also a reason for heart diseases. Another risk factor is eating too much salt that will increase blood pressure.

Fatty deposits or plaques will cling on to the artery walls and clog the artery. A heart attack occurs when a clog blocks one of the artery’s of the heart. Exercise is vital to reduce your risk of heart disease. To reduce heart diseases avoid fried fast food and processed foods containing vegetable shortening, switch to low-fat or non-fat dairy products and eat oily fish.

3. Depression

Fats in fast food is the main risk factor for depression, because they are pro-inflammatory. Depression affects 121 million people worldwide. When we have high sugar food, the sugar will flow through our body and spikes our insulin.

At that time we will feel alert and excited, but after some times we mill feel not energetic because all that added glucose becomes absorbed that spike spirals right down. It will be prevented by having healthy food instead of fatty foods.

4. Kidney disease

Study on junk food inform that junk food or  processed food may cause long-term damage to your kidneys. Sometimes Type 2 diabetes can lead to kidney problems. Type 2 diabetes occur when the insulin production of body stops, it will increase the blood sugar level and that may damage some internal organs like kidney.

Fast foods are overloaded with sodium (salt). these salts may overload your kidney and cause problems for other organs also. Eating  these kinds of foods also leads to kidney stone also to much phosphate in fast food causes  chronic kidney diseases.

5. Cancer

Eating deep fried food is the main reason for cancer. Fast food wrappers that containing carcinogenic chemicals is also a cancer causing agent. Lack of fiber in fast food increases the risk of digestive system cancer. colorectal cancer is caused by the consummation of too much fast food with high sugar and fat.

Too much fried foods will cause prostate cancer.  High-fat diet during puberty time will leads to breast cancer. To avoid cancer avoid the use of Deep fried, grilled, barbequed, baked meats, Excessive intake of salt, sug​ar, and oily foods, Red meat and processed meats such as bacon, ham, sausages.

6. Digestive problem

Junk food does not contain nutrients like fiber and water, eating those fatty food will cause poor digestion and irritable bowels. It will also slow slow down the digestive process due to the  lack of  enzymes.

Digestive problems caused by fatty junk foods are  gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), etc. The oil  in the junk food gets deposited on the walls of the stomach lining,It will  increases the acid production. Spices loaded in them irritate the stomach lining, worsening GERD and digestion.

7. Brain disease

Junk foods can negatively effect your memory. Resent research says that bad fats from junk food tends to replace healthy fats in the brain and interferes with its normal signalling mechanism.

Junk foods can also cause  neuroinflammation that it sets off a self-perpetuating series of events leading to more inflammation that can damage brain cells called neurons. It will also shrinks the brain’s learning capabilities, reduces the generation of new neurons and  grabs our attention and make us impulsive.

It is also a reason for the brain damage. The fatty foods will damage the hypothalamus region of the brain in rodents. The hypothalamus produces hormones that control hunger, thirst, sleep, moods, and the natural rhythms of the body.

8. Liver damage

Eating Fast food will cause increased serum ALT levels (liver enzyme)  and fats in the liver. if liver enzyme is found in the blood then it can indicate  liver damage/disease and a fatty liver leads to cirrhosis of the liver like in alcoholics.

Liver damage can occur on a fast food diet in less than four weeks. Some studies saying that high level of trans fats found in a number of junk food which cause liver dysfunction due to deposition in the liver.

9. Metabolic syndrome

Metabolic syndrome is a disease causing by having too much junk foods that containing Ajinomoto (MSG). MSG is  one of the crucial ingredient of Chinese food products. This ingredient is mostly found in numerous packed foods, It improves the taste of the food products.

Metabolic syndrome  is a group of issues such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, high blood sugar , and excess body fat. Burning sensations in the face and neck, breathing problem, headache, nausea, vomiting, fast heartbeats, etc are  the main symptoms of this syndrome.

This disease will increase your risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes. Lifestyle changes can delay or even prevent the development of serious health problems that occurred by metabolic syndrome. Weight reduction usually requires a specifically tailored multifaceted program that includes diet and exercise. Smoking cessation is an important component of treatment, and sometimes medications may be useful.

10. Overweight (Obesity)

Overweight is the most common side effect of junk foods. Junk food contains sugar, calories, and fat that will cause weight gain. It may leads to several long term health conditions like premature death and illness including diabetes, heart disease, stroke, gall bladder disease, fatty liver, arthritis and joint disorders and some cancers.

Junk food also effect the energy level of our body. To reduce the risk of obesity, it is essential to reduce your intake of these unhealthy processed foods and replace them with fruit, vegetables, legumes, whole grains and nuts.
