UML 400cc Cruiser Bike

UML is the well known joint venture between the American company UM Motorcycles and India’s Lohia Auto Industries. UM, is the US-based motorcycle brand and Lohia Auto is an India-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer. Now they plans to launch a powerful 400cc Cruiser Bike in India. The bike will launch in Indian market around the second quarter of this year. 

During the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo they have showcased the Renegade. In order to make these bikes affordable, the company is aiming to achieve up to 70% localisation level. UM aiming to produce 1,00,000 units/year and this bike falls under 300 to 500cc engine displacement. 

Rather than the UML 400cc Cruiser Bike. company have no plans to go beyond the 500cc range of motorcycles in India. The reason behind this is , poor sales figures of recent launched higher-displacement engines. The 400cc engine will also be exported to its overseas sites. Company plans to launch open dealerships in the western and southern regions in India.

UML also plans to appoint 75 dealers across 50 cities in India by July 2015 to expand their network. UML also have various plans to use the Lohia Auto’s current facility located at Kashipur, Uttarakhand for local operations. According to sources, the 400cc bike equipped with all latest safety features such as disc brakes equipped with ABS technology.
