Full List of GST Rate: Tax Rates of all Goods and Services

Here is the Full GST rate list and you can check the whole tax rates for all goods and services. The all powerful GST Council decided Four-tier GST rate structure of 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%. The Four-tier GST rate structure is a compromise to accommodate demand for highest tax rate of 40% by states like Kerala. Key highlight is Zero-tax rate to apply to 50% of items in CPI basket, including food grains used by common man. 

List of Goods with No tax

  • Jute, fresh meat, fish chicken
  • eggs, milk, butter milk, curd
  • natural honey, fresh fruits and vegetables
  • flour, besan, bread, prasad
  • salt, bindi. Sindoor, stamps
  • judicial papers, printed books
  • newspapers, bangles, handloom, etc.

List of Services with No tax

  • Hotels and lodges with tariff below Rs 1,000
  • Grandfathering service


Thus essential items will have low tax and highest tax is for luxury and de-merits goods. All those items which are currently taxed at 30-31% (excise duty plus VAT) will have Highest tax slab as per finance minister Arun Jaitley. Among this Luxury cars, tobacco and aerated drinks gets additional cess on top of the highest tax rate. Gold and diamonds do not fall under the current rate slab tax for those will be 3% and 0.25% respectively.

Goods with 5% Tax

  • fish fillet, Apparel below Rs 1000
  • packaged food, footwear below Rs 500
  • sabudana, kerosene, coal
  • medicines, stent, lifeboats
  • cream, skimmed milk powder
  • branded paneer, frozen vegetables
  • coffee, tea, spices, pizza bread, rusk

Goods with 12% Tax

  • Bhutia, namkeen, Ayurvedic medicines
  • tooth powder, agarbatti, colouring books
  • Apparel above Rs 1000, frozen meat products
  • butter, cheese, ghee
  • dry fruits in packaged form
  • animal fat, sausage, fruit juices
  • picture books, umbrella
  • sewing machine, cellphones

Goods with 18% Tax

  • pasta, cornflakes, pastries and cakes
  • preserved vegetables, jams
  • sauces, soups, ice cream
  • instant food mixes, mineral water
  • tissues, envelopes, tampons
  • footwear costing more than Rs 500, Bidi Patta
  • Biscuits (All catogories), flavoured refined sugar
  • note books, steel products
  • printed circuits, camera
  • speakers and monitors.

Goods with 28% Tax

  • deodorants, shaving creams, after shave
  • hair shampoo, dye, sunscreen, wallpaper
  • ceramic tiles, water heater, dishwasher
  • weighing machine, washing machine
  • Bidis, chewing gum, molasses
  • chocolate not containing cocoa
  • waffles and wafers coated with choclate
  • pan masala, aerated water, paint
  • ATM, vending machines, vacuum cleaner
  • shavers, hair clippers, automobiles
  • motorcycles, aircraft for personal use

Services with 18 % Tax

  • AC hotels that serve liquor, telecom services
  • IT services, branded garments
  • financial services

Services with 12% Tax

  • Non-AC hotels, business class air ticket
  • fertilisers, Work Contracts

Services with 5% Tax

  • Transport services (Railways, air transport)
  • small restraurants
