A Supermoon, Blue moon And Lunar Eclipse On January 31
A Supermoon, Blue moon and Lunar Eclipse will occur in the same time. It is happening after 150 years. The last event was took place in 1866. This quite rare and special event will occur in 31st January 2018. Moon will reach its full phase for the second time in the month of January, making it a blue Moon. The full Moon also occurs very close to perigee. Perigee is the point in the orbit of the moon. Then the Supermoon 14% brighter than average. Finally the Moon will fully slip into the Earth’s shadow during this time, creating a total lunar eclipse. This process is called Super Blood Blue Moon.

Supermoon is a New or a Full Moon that occurs when the Moon is at or near its closest approach to Earth in its orbit. It is also known as a Micro Moon. The term Supermoon was first coined by an astrologer, Richard Nolle, in 1979. This supermoon occurs when the center of the Moon is less than 360,000 kilometers from the center of Earth. Synetific name of Supermoon is perigee-syzygy of the Earth-Moon-Sun system. A supermoon can be a full moon or new moon.
Super Full Moon
When a Full Moon takes place when the Moon is near its closest approach to Earth, it is called a Super Full Moon. In some parts of the world, the eclipsed Full Moon will be a Blue Moon. It is also almost a Supermoon, prompting many to call this eclipse a Super Blue Blood Moon eclipse.
Super New Moon.
When there is a New Moon around the closest point to Earth, it is known as a Super New Moon.
Blue Moon is the second full Moon in the same calendar month. That only occurs once every three years. January 31st will be an ultra-rare blue supermoon. The last blue moon was over a year and a half ago, on May 21, 2016. the next blue moon scheduled for January 31. This will be the last super moon of this year – with the next blue moon not due until May 18, 2019.
Lunar eclipse means the Earth orbits around between the sun and the moon. It is happened at least twice a year. We can see the splendid sight of Earth’s shadow falling across the moon. During the eclipse, light coming from the Sun is blocked by the Earth, it does not reach up to the Moon, so the Moon’s brightness reduced. Then the moon slowly makes its way through the Earth’s shadow and becomes increasingly dark. Moon’s brightness is not totally vanished because some lights comes from the earth’s atmosphere to the Moon so it remains visible up to some extent.
There are two shadow zones in the process of Lunar eclipse. They are as follows
Umbra is the region of total shadow. We would see no portion of the sun.
Types of Lunar Ecplise
There are 3 types of Lunar Eclipse. They are as follows
In a penumbral eclipse, the Full Moon enters the Earth’s penumbral shadow. The light from the Earth is partially blocked, and the Moon grows dimmer.
In a partial lunar eclipse, part of the Moon is within the Earth’s umbras shadow.
In total eclipse the Moon is completely shadowed by the Earth. When the Moon touches the umbra, the Moon is totally immersed in the umbra and the total eclipse starts.
